Stake Activity and Sept Departures

How is everyone doing.  Transfers are over.  My new companion is Elder Espino.  I was actually supposed to train him back before I got Franzuella but things were switched up.  So I'm glad I finally get to be comps with him.  He has been out a year and is awesome.  His English is better than mine.  I can't seem to string together a well formulated sentence.  Anyway,  Elder Maloney decided to go home a cycle early in order to save some money for school.  With the typhoon it didn't really cause a lot of  structural damage but it did destroyed the corn crop which will not be good for the area.  So I'm still in Gosi.

Big news:  I will be in Manila on Friday and Saturday.  I pulled some money out last week for a present so I need to get some more out.  I'm not really sure what the plan is but I think we will probably go to MOA (Mall of Asia).  I'll tell you about it next week.

We had a stake activity on Saturday.  We got to wear p-day clothes all day!  =)   we are still working hard.

I love you all!

NoTransfers, New Companion and lots of work!

Its transfer week and I'm not transferred.  Gosi is now officially my last area.  So we had a busy week.  After the first typhoon we were put on tropical storm watch.  It was supposed to just be lots of rain and flooding but it turned into lots of wind.  So it just kind of petered out.

Your trip sounded like fun.  I will try to put some pictures up later.

I don't have a lot of news.  We had a really good sacrament yesterday.  President Amistad (Temple President) spoke.  He explained the second coming very well.  He said that we shouldn't be afraid.  We should be excited.  The purpose of all the bad things that are and will happen is to get rid of the wicked.  So when you think about the second coming from now on, think about all the good things that will happen, like the millennium, temple work, resurrection, peace, missionary work, salvation.

I love you all.  I will send an addendum if I remember anything else.

Please tell me you didn't eat that!

Update on Typhoon Luis and Elder Cousin

From the Mission Home
Typhoon Luis went through the mission last night.  It did not develop into a category 2 as predicted. There was a lot of rain, wind and some flooding, as well as power outages in the Tuguegarao area.
ALL missionaries are safe and accounted for

Cattagaman District Tuguegarao South Zone
Sister Karavanua, Sister Hirst, Sister Lamac, (Sister Miller is in the MRC in Manila)
Elder Masacayan, Elder Kocherhans, Elder McCausland, Elder Labetoria, Elder Cousin, Elder Glassie

Sorry we are really late today.  We got hit with a category 1 Typhoon yesterday and now we have no power.  I'm not really sure how I am netting right now.  Its like the city has turned the power back on in some areas but not everywhere.  The good thing is that we are all safe.  We were locked down from 6pm last night until this morning. We had a few apartments in the zone get flooded but our apartment was all safe.  Don't worry, something crazy had to happen before I came home.

Something cool this week was that Sunday morning we didn't pickup any of our investigators for church.  We figured that if they didn't come they had a good excuse (typhoon).  But one of our investigators came without any promptings.  We didn't text, call, or even suggest coming to church.  We were both really surprised.

I do have pictures but they might have to wait until next week.  We don't have a lot of time.  I love you all and hope that you have a great week.

From Mission Home to Parents/Family Typhoon Luis

We are expecting a Category 2 typhoon (Luis) over our mission on the evening of Sunday, September 14 through the early hours of Monday, September 15.  We do not anticipate a lot of structural damage, but do expect wind, rain and flooding.

Our missionaries are prepared with 72 hour kits and those in low-lying or flood prone areas have been moved to areas of safety.  We will stay in close contact with all missionaries through our established channels of communication.  I will post updates here, but we may be dealing with power outages for a period of time.  The site Weather Underground is an excellent source for following the storm.

Thank you for your prayers sent our way, for the mission and missionaries, and for the dear people of the Philippines.

This was an interesting week

We had a special leadership meeting in Cauayan and then went straight onto splits with the AP's.  It was really good.  I like working with them.  I always learn a lot.  We didn't have very many lessons however last night Elder Masacayan and I sat down and named all the good things that happened this week.  It turns out that there were quite a few.  I was actually kind of shocked that there were so many.

I was taking a shower the other morning and I saw something black and furry up in the corner.  I thought I had discovered a Pokemon of something.  I showed it to E. Masacayan and it turns out that it was a bat.. We got it out of the bathroom and it started to swoop at us so I ran away all while being in just a towel.
we have a very busy month planned.  There something big happening every week. So yay!
