Final weeks in the Mission Field

This week was Greeeat!  We had zone conference.  I was able to see some people before I come home which was good. Our sister investigator was interviewed for baptism this week so her baptism will be on Saturday November 1 is a holiday here.  Its the day of the dead.  Everybody eats lunch at the cemetery which is a little unusual but its a day off of work and school so hey...

We have Career Workshop on Wednesday.  We might have to overnight in Cauayan.

I'm gonna miss the Philippines, especially this branch.  Its been a good run.  I've learned a lot and I have so much that I want to apply to my life as a normal person.

Last Zone Conference for Elder Cousin

Our October 2014 Zone Conference theme was "Becoming a Successful Missionary."

In the morning session, President Rahlf taught the attributes of a successful missionary as found in Preach My Gospel:
*Feel the Spirit testify to people through you
     *Love all people
     *Obey with exactness
*LIve so you can receive and know how to follow the Spirit
     *Develop Christlike attributes
     *Work effectively every day
*Help build up the Church wherever you are assigned to work
*Warn people of the consequences of sin--Invite them to make and keep commitments
     *Teach and serve other missionaries
*Go about doing good and serving others--whether or not they accept your message
He shared examples of these attributes as we have seen them from missionaries in our mission.

I taught about the temptations of Christ, and how He showed us the way to overcome all the "fiery darts" of the adversary.

We then had two workshops on effective Language Study and effective Finding Efforts taught by the Assistants, Zone Leaders and Sister Training Leaders.

Lunch was enjoyed (and devoured!) and our activity was a friendly competition  of
"Minute to Win It."

After lunch and the games, we gathered again in the chapel for a closing session.  President Rahlf taught "Obedience--the First Law of Heaven," and we ended our day with testimonies from our missionaries.

As always, we were strengthened by each other and by the Spirit, and left each conference renewed and grateful to be the Lord's missionaries.
We love the Philippines Cauayan Mission!

Enjoying some Korean Food

This week was really really good.  We had a split and had some fun.  I was sick for a couple days.  I had to have my last sickness in the Philippines.  Our one investigator has a Baptismal Interview on this coming Saturday so hopefully next week we will have a baptism.  We have zone conference this week.  I have never had to teach at zone conference which is great!  I sent out some emails about my homecoming so unless people ask maybe putting it on Facebook isn't necessary. I posted some pics on Flickr.  We found a Korean restaurant here in Tugy so we tried it.  It wasn't bad.

One thing that was super funny this week was that Elder Roy became a ZL again.  At the start of the cycle he was transferred to the Next zone over without a calling.  But when Elder Odom went home president called him and asked him to be a ZL again.  It was super funny because he was so excited to just be able to finish his mission as a normal missionary. Sometimes we don't always get what we want!!!!

That is pretty much my week

MLC and General Conference

We had a good week. MLC was great and conference was the highlight of the week! I went into conference to find out what my priorities should be when I get home and I was told what those priorities should be. It was a very informative weekend. The work still goes well. I'm just trying to show Elder Espino the area and get him acquainted with the members and investigators

Jet-setting in the Philippines

This week...  It has been crazy but awesome.  So everything was normal until Thursday.  We had to be in Cauayan at 8 am Friday morning but that is impossible if we were to leave Friday morning so we left Thursday evening and just slept over with Bangal and Allred.  We woke up Friday morning and went to the mission office.  They gave us itineraries and took us to the airport.  Our flight was a little late but we made it to Manila around noon.  We went straight to immigration and we saw more foreigners in 15 minutes than I have my whole mission.  The church has connections so we were in and out of fingerprinting in about 15 minutes.  We then drove by the Cathedral and the Vice-Presidents mansion.  Our driver was awesome.  He knew everything about manila and was super chill.  We went to MOA (Mall of Asia) and hung out /ate lots of American food.  We then went back to the Hotel and just hung out all night.  We then randomly met the family of one of the missionaries here.  His dad designs all the coins here in the Philippines so it was lots of fun to hang out with them for a little bit.  The hotel also had hot showers.  We got up the next morning and went straight to the airport.  I didn't get back to my area until around 7.

For not being here for a few days.  We had some really good work.  We have two really great investigators that have baptismal dates this month.  Hopefully I will have 2 baptisms before I come home.  I'm excited.  I'll send more pics next week.
